About This Point of Interest
Table Rock Center
The Table Rock Center is a falls observation lookout and retail center. Located on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, the centre draws many visitors so they can experience the Niagara River just as the water tumbles over Horseshoe Falls. The “Table Rock” got its name from a large rock shelf that used to sit a little further north of where the Table Rock Center stands today. This “shelf” allowed tourists a marvelous view of the Horseshoe Falls in the early and middle 19th century. Bit by bit, minor and major rockfalls began to occur, with the biggest being in 1850 when a massive chunk fell into the Niagara Gorge below.
